α-conotoxin GID: toxin properties
α-conotoxin GID has been isolated from the venom of the cone snail Conus geographus. This conotoxin acts on postsynaptic membranes. It inhibits their bind to the nicotinic acetylcholine receptors (nAChR) by binding onto them themselves. This toxin reversibly blocks nAChRs (α3/ß2 = α7 > α4/ß2).
