Sarafotoxin C
Toxin properties
Sarafotoxin C has been isolated from the venom of the Snake Atractaspis engaddensis. This toxin demonstrates vasoconstrictor activity. The compound has a close structural homology to the endothelin family. Sarafotoxin C causes cardiac arrest probably as a result of coronary vasospasm. LD50 is 0.015 mg/kg by intravenous injection for sarafotoxin C.
